About the Farm

We are a family run farm in the beautiful Sussex countryside.

Our family have been part of Hodore’s story since the 1940s with many changes happening over the years.

Once home to a large dairy herd of cows, and now we grow crops, manage woodlands and graze the pastures with sheep.

The river Medway forms one boundary of our farm and we are home to abundant wildlife, big and small.

Join us to learn about the history and heritage of the farm, what food we grow and machines we use as well as the beautiful landscape and wildlife here.

Enjoy the farm & Learn with us

Science, Soils, Plants, Lifecycles & Habitats

We will explore plant life cycles and where our food comes from as well as get our hands dirty by exploring life in our soils and in the woodlands or learn about life in the water life through pond dipping. We host a variety of habitats and farm enterprises on the farm that provide for brilliant hands on curriculum linked learning experiences.

Geography, History, Art, Maths and Literacy

The farm is part of the High Weald National Landscape so we have magnificent views and history to share – we’ve even a roman road passing through the farm! With such rich heritage and many operations on the farm, there is lots of real-life opportunity to explore, throughout the seasons, to connect what is happening on the land to children’s learning.

Outside Experience, Wellbeing & Nature Connection

We also spend time enjoying the sounds, peace and space of the woods and countryside. At Hodore, we aim to foster a sense of connection, awe and wonder and develop young people’s capacity to really care for the land that sustains us all.
